SYNTHESIS OF NEW FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUIDS.

Abstract

The reaction of Freon E3, butyl lithium and carbon dioxide gives a compound tentatively identified as C3F7O(C3F6O)2CF+CFC4H9. Dimethylchlorosilane was added to CH2=CHC3F7 to gove 2c1(CH3)2SiCH2CH2C3F7 in better than 50% conversion. The adduct was hydrolyzed to give (C3F7CH2CH2Si(CH3Si(CH3)2)2O. Model disiloxanes exhibit both low viscosity and low flash points. Trifluoromethanesulfenyl chloride was added to chlorortrifluoroethylene to give high boiling telomers. Two pure telomeric adducts were isolated and found to have unsuitability low viscosities. (Author)
