APPROVED REVISION OF QUALITATIVE MATERIAL REQUIREMENT FOR A MEDIUM/HIGH FREQUENCY SINGLE SIDEBAND AIRCRAFT RADIO.

Abstract

Research is presented on the development of a single sideband, medium/high frequency (SSB M/HF) radio set for use in Army aerial vehicles to maintain continuous non-line-of-sight tactical communications with compatible radio sets in tactical Army units on the ground at ranges up to 150 miles, and particularly while the aerial vehicle is operating at low altitudes. This radio set will be operationally compatible with the 100-mile, 50-mile and 25-mile range ground SSB radio sets, and with high frequency SSB equipments, operating in the same frequency ranges of the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Federal Aviation Agency.
