HIGH SPEED MESSAGE ENTRY EQUIPMENT.

Abstract

During the period, detail design of all major components of the equipment has nearly been completed, substantial progress has been made in the fabrication and assembly processes, and the checkout and testing of many of the major assemblies has been completed. Both the mechanical and electrical portions of the paper handling system are assembled and integrated, and are being tested. Assembly of the electro-optical head has been completed and it is undergoing tests. The read system logic is completely wired and preliminary checkout completed. Section 4 of this report contains a technical discussion of the work performed during this report period. To simplify the discussion it has been divided into five parts, namely: the Paper Handling System, the Optical System, the Reading Logic System, the Buffer System and the Output System. Discussion for each of these sub-systems covers: the design process, fabricating progress and checkout and testing progress. (Author)
