A SURVEY AND EXTENSION OF TECHNIQUES IN FACTOR ANALYSIS

Abstract

The purpose of the work here was to present the structure of factor analysis to a physical scientist and to extend the structure where it was weakest. The reference guide in the appendix performs as a dynamic survey of factor analysis by guiding a neophyte factor analyst through an application. Reference is made to expand presentations in the body of the report. The structure of factor analysis has been extended in the following areas: effects on the number of observations, sampling effect, interpretation of factors and communality.
