AFRPL LIQUID FLUORINE ROCKET NOZZLE TEST FACILITY.

Abstract

This technical report described the design, buildup and operation of the AFRPL Fluorine Test Facility during the period April 1963 to March 1965. The test facility, used to conduct exploratory development investigations of thrust chamber components, has a testing capability up to: 10,000 lb thrust; 1500 psia chamber pressure; and 300 secs. continuous operating duration. Information is presented on materials compatibility, facility design operation problems, control systems, instrumentation, safety considerations and recommended testing approaches. Also included are block diagrams and control schematics. Results and experience show that a fluorine test facility can be successfully operated, both safely and economically. The testing, evaluation and performance analysis of various thrust chamber components has been documented in separate technical reports. (Author)
