A REVIEW OF FLUID MECHANICAL PROBLEMS IN MHD GENERATORS.

Abstract

The basic equations of channel flow through an MHD generator are introduced using matrix conductivity for Hall effects. Gas dynamics is briefly considered from the point of view of possible irregularities in the flow. A review is given of published work on boundary layers, velocity profiles and boundary layer separation, with a brief mention of flow instabilities. Possible lines of research are discussed.
