PROJECT SEABED; PAPERS PREPARED BY THE OCEANOGRAPHY SUB-PANEL OF THE UNDERSA TECHNOLOGY PANEL,
Abstract
The document consists of a group of papers prepared by oceanographers participating in Project SEABED. The papers are divided into four sections: (1) Oceanographic research problems as viewed from the ocean bottom; (2) environmental consideration for Naval weapons systems; (3) exploitation of the oceans; (4) research systems concepts. Each of the several papers is a compilation of the salient points which the author thought warranted further discussion in conference sessions, or a compilation of salient points which had been brought out in conference sessions. In neither case is the paper an exhaustive treatise on the subject at hand, and the document as a whole is most definitely a compendium of the state of the art in oceanography at the present time.
