Plant Colloids for Evaluation as Plasma Extenders and for complexing with Protein Sparing Substances.

Abstract

The preparation of glycerol pectate was continued during this report period to meet the increased requirements of material for testing at Camp LeJeune. Six runs were made with 24 moles of glycerol alpha-monochlorohydrin yielding a total of 6848 g glycidol. A daily output of 650 g glycidol was achieved by running three batches concurrently. Continued efforts were made to scale up the production of glycerol pectate for evaluation on animals. The preparation of these solutions is described in detail including also pertinent analytical data. (Author)
