TECHNICAL ANALYSIS OF AUDIO AND RADIO FREQUENCY DETECTORS. FSC 4935.

Abstract

The purpose of this Technical Analysis is to effect the adoption of a minimum variety and number of frequency detectors required by the Military in Federal Supply Class (FSC) 4935. It was determined that twenty-eight (28) detectors were applicable to this Technical Analysis and were subjected to an engineering evaluation of their functional, technical, and applicational characteristics. The study effort was divided into four major tasks. The first was the assembly of the necessary documentation for the items under study; the second was a functional classification of the items based upon their technical, functional, and applicational characteristics; the third was the development of the Standardization Status Code recommendations for the items; and the fourth was the documentation of the study effort and its results. As a result of this study, three (3) detectors were assigned Standardization Status Code 1, Standard; thirteen (13) detectors were assigned Standardization Status Code 2, Limited Standard; and (9) detectors were assigned Standardization Status Code 3, Non-Standard.
