Exact Design Techniques for Microwave Tem Filters.

Abstract

A review is given of the exact theory of interdigital band-pass filters. Tables of self and mutual static capacitors are presented that allow the simplified design of Butterworth and Chebyshev interdigital filters for bandwidths of a few percent to 4:1 and greater. The design procedures developed make use of simple transformations performed on the static capacitance matrix of a parallel conductor array. Detailed design examples are given to illustrate the methods and techniques presented. A new type of filter-transformer consisting of multiple coaxial lines is described. Experimental results for a 3:1 bandwidth interdigital filter and a 3:1 bandwidth filter-transformer are presented. (Author)
