ENGINEERING TEST OF TARGET MAP COORDINATE LOCATOR.

Abstract

An engineering test of the Target Map Coordinate Locator (TMCL) was conducted by the General Equipment Test Activity which was responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting the test. The test was conducted to determine the technical performance and safety characteristics of the TMCL and its associated tools. It was concluded that the engineering test model TMCL, including tools and draft maintenance instructions, is not entirely acceptable for its intended purpose until the shortcomings noted in the report, with respect to durability, reliability, maintainability, and operational suitability, have been corrected. It was also concluded that when operated and maintained in accordance with instructions, it presents no safety hazards; however, there are potential hazards that should be considered during operation and maintenance. It was recommended that the short-comings noted in the report be corrected prior to service testing the Target Map Coordinate Locator. (Author)
