ESTABLISHMENT OF DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS FOR LOAD-DEFLECTION CHARACTERISTICS OF THIN ELASTIC LAYERS FOR APPLICATION TO COMPLIANT BEARINGS HAVING FLUID-FILM LUBRICATION.

Abstract

The report contains a derivation of differential equations which, to any desired degree of approximation, relate directly the normal load and local deflection of a thin elastic layer. Three types of boundary conditions on one side of the layer are studied to represent situations of interest in compliant surface lubrication. (Author)
