QUARTERLY REPORT OF TECHNICAL PROGRESS.

Abstract

Active work has been going on over the past ten years in the field of High Energy Rate Forming of Metals, but the full potential of this process has yet to be realized. More than one large-scale program has resulted in failure as a result of trying to extrapolate empirical knowledge too far without making adequate use of the body of scientific knowledge that exists. The Center for High Energy Rate Forming Processes has been established for the purpose of bringing about a coupling of science and technology in this field. (Author)
