REPORT ON INITIAL PLANNING FOR GENISYS (GENERALIZED INFORMATION SYSTEM).

Abstract

GENISYS is a prototype, currently in the initial stages of planning, for a family of generalized, user-oriented, data management systems to be developed for the U. S. Air Force. GENISYS will combine the technology existing in time-sharing systems, user-oriented systems, and data management systems to provide on-line computer support to a variety of nonprogrammer users, and to permit ongoing, in-field system and GENISYS. A section on design requirements discusses design objectives and specifies requirements for the basic executive, the extended executive, and the functions provided the GENISYS user. Subsequent sections cover hardware requirements, comparisons with other systems, and techniques for implementation and evaluation of GENISYS. A list of references is included. (Author)
