ANALYTICAL EVALUATION OF ACTIVELY COOLED MODIFIED MONOCOQUE STRUCTURAL SANDWICH CONCEPTS.
Abstract
An analytical evaluation of actively cooled modified monocoque structural sandwich concepts was conducted. A computational procedure was formulated which permits not only the analysis of actively cooled thermal protection systems, but their preliminary design as well. The insulated and cooled concept was found to be most desirable on the basis of weight, thermal stress and producibility. A complete preliminary design of the selected concept was accomplished.
