STUDIES ON ORGANIC ACID METABOLISM.

Abstract

Enzymatic and chemical studies on organic acid and metabolism and the essential metabolites involved in the multiple steps on their oxidation were performed. An exploration of the mechanism of oxidation of mandelic acid to benzoic acid was undertaken. A new enzyme, a mandelic acid racemase was found and its properties determined. The latter is an extension of previous studies on amino acid racemases. (Author )
