RADIO EMISSION IN THE DIRECTION OF CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES,
Abstract
The association of radio emission with clusters of galaxies has beenestablished by the investigations of Mills (1960), van den Bergh (1961), Tovmassian and Shachbasian (1961), Pilkington (1964), Sholomitsky and Kokin (1965), and others. In contrast to these studies, where the association was effected from the coincidence of positions of clusters with respect to radio sources, the survey to be described consists of a search for radio emission in the direction of selected clusters. The results suggest that a considerable fraction of the nearer clusters contain sources of detectable radio emission. (Author)
