CASSARS DOCUMENT SERIES. VOLUME 1. PLAYERS AND OPERATORS MANUAL. FIRST EDITION,

Abstract

The Logistic Studies Office has developed a Computer-Assisted Simulation of Supply and Related Systems (CASSARS) as a means of evaluating the relative effectiveness of competing organizations or systems in the area of supply or related activities. Programmed for the RCA 501 computer, the simulation consists of a series of models that simulate combat, supply, and transportation activities. It assesses the results of conventional ground warfare between two army-sized forces and evaluates the supply and transportation activities necessary to sustain the U. S. force in such an environment. The maneuver elements controlled within the simulation are division-sized. The storage, allocation, and distribution of supplies are simulated at all echelons between the port and division supply points. (Author)
