TEMPER. VOLUME IV, TECHNICAL MANUAL.

Abstract

This volume is one of seven which describe different aspects of the TEMPER model. TEMPER, an acronym for Technological, Economic, Military and Political Evaluation Routine is a model for simulating global Cold War conflict and is programmed to be run on a digital computer. The goal of the computer simulation is to permit quantitative analysis of a wide range of international conflict situations. It provides insight into the complex interaction between political, economic, cultural, and military factors for up to 39 nation-groups formed from a 117 national data base. The program is written in FORTRAN for a CDC 1604B computer. This volume describes the theory of the TEMPER model and the operation of the TEMPER computer simulation. It is designed to provide specific detailed information about what the model does and how it does it. Flow charts and numerical examples are found here. The reader is assumed to have some knowledge of FORTRAN. (Author)
