OBSERVATIONS OF MAGNETOSPHERIC BOUNDARY PHENOMENA.

Abstract

A brief summary of recent major observations of magnetospheric boundary phenomena is provided with emphasis on Explorers 12 and 14 and IMP 1 measurements of charged particles and of magnetic fields in the sunward magnetopause region and within the tail of the magnetosphere in the antisolar direction. Major observations of charged particles in these regions are summarized in several equatorial spatial distribution diagrams. (Author)
