SOLAR DYNAMIC POWER SYSTEMS STUDY. VOLUME II. SOLAR DYNAMIC POWER SYSTEMS EVALUATION.

Abstract

This report presents the results of a survey, analysis and evaluation of solar dynamic power systems for Air Force space applications. The timeliness and design requirements relevant to such power systems are compared with technology status and system performance to develop recommendations in support of the Air Force 698V Advanced Development Program. A comprehensive analysis of applicable thermomechanical conversion, components and subsystems, as well as various collector concepts, is presented. Six specific power conversion systems are examined for technological merit, and five are subjected to a detailed competitive evaluation. Likewise, three contending collector subsystems are treated.
