NON-LINEAR DEVICES.
Abstract
Gas tube and solid-state plasma mixers were studied. Both exhibited modulation transfer, but the solid-state version had incoherent outputs even at 77 K. Optical mixing using rubidium vapor was successful, while experiments with sodium failed due to low polarized light intensity available at the cell. Details of sodium lamp construction are presented. Preliminary results using an NMR induction mixer as a modulator are presented. Plans for reducing this mixer's output harmonic distortion are discussed. (Author)
