GOOSE LAKE, MONTANA, 1964 ACCESSIBILITY FIELD METHODS AND LOGISTICS.

Abstract

The field site selected was at Goose Lake in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana, approximately 10 miles north of Cooke City. The paper contains sections dealing with the geographical setting of the research area, problems associated with gaining access to that area, equipment and supplies, the nature of the research project, and a few comments on mountain safety. Inasmuch as this location will be used as a field site for USACRREL projects during the next few years, this paper should also serve as ageneral introduction to the area and the problems one can expect to encounter there.
