A WIND-TUNNEL AIR WAKE SURVEY OF A 1/144-SCALE MODEL AIRCRAFT CARRIER TO EVALUATE SEVERAL STERN MODIFICATIONS AND AT 2 DEGREES PITCH ANGLE.

Abstract

A model of the proposed CVA 67 Aircraft Carrier was tested in the Subsonic Wind Tunnel to determine the aerodynamic effect in the air wake caused by several stern modifications and a static 2 degree pitch angle of the model. Results of tests show that the shape of the stern has little or no effect on the dynamic pressure ratio or angularity in the air waks along the airplane approach path. Also, a static 2 degree pitch angle shows no change in the wake in the region of interest. (Author)
