PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE INVESTIGATIONS OF SILVER HALOGENIDES DOPED WITH FE.

Abstract

An EPR study was made of AgBr and AgCl crystals doped with Fe, at 20 K. Absorption lines were observed which can be attributed to excited states in AgCl and in AgBr. The Fe center was found to have a cubic symmetry. A hyperfine structure was observed which cannot be explained by interactions with the halogen ligands. A satisfactory explanation of this hyperfine structure is given on the basis of an interaction with eight Ag ions occupying the corners of a cube. (Author)
