INVESTIGATIONS OF BROAD BAND FERROMAGNETIC POWER LIMITERS AND EXPANDERS AS DUPLEXING ELEMENTS FOR MICROWAVE SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Methods of attaining broad bandwidth limiters are being investigated. A traveling-wave limiter and multiple-sphere limiter have been tested for limiting over narrow bandwidths. Measurements indicate the helical coupling structure can be used for preliminary expander tests. Utilizing the helical coupling structure, bandwidths for a given sphere are greater than anticipated. A high level insertion loss has been observed in expander tests. It has been attributed to the purity of the YIG spheres employed in the device. (Author)
