REAL-TIME PROCESSING AND MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Management information systems were introduced and it was shown how they may be implemented using real-time computer systems at great benefit to the user. A comparison was made between the conventional system and the real-time system in terms of the processing of individual transactions. The various equipment that may be used in such systems was analyzed in terms of its application to a designed real-time system for any specific application. Some of the disadvantages of the real-time system were pointed up such as, the possible disrupting of the organizational structure and previous methods of conducting business. The system described herein provides for the immediate access to stored information as well as the immediate processing of inputs through the use of on-line remote units. (Author)
