CONTROL OF A SIMPLE CASE OF INHERENTLY UNSTABLE SYSTEMS.

Abstract

A simple example of control of an inherently unstable system is presented. An inverted pendulum pivoted on top of a cart is to be stabilized by applying force to the cart through an electric motor. In the electrical laboratory of the United States Naval Postgraduate School, a cart with a stick pivoted on of it was built, tested and simulated with CDC 1604 digital computer. (Author)
