A STUDY OF MARINE CORPS PERSONNEL APPRAISAL.

Abstract

This study traces some recent history of reporting systems of the military, Marine Corps and otherwise. It investigates the rating scale, details the reporting scheme and considers the problematical results produced by rating officers. The current use and evaluation of the fitness report is outlined briefly and the application of the computer in standard-score evaluation of fitness reports is presented. The need for, and a means of, feedback to the rater is discussed. Essentially, the conclusion of this report could represent a first-phase, no-risk endeavor toward better use of the current rating system. (Author)
