MICROWAVE DETECTOR USING PLASMA.

Abstract

The new plasma detector uses the external magnetic field. Hence not only are eventual losses due to gas diffusion lowered, but at the same time, the sensitivity of the detector is increased. In the presence of a suitable magnetic field the plasma operates under the conditions of the cyclotron resonance of electrons, which increases the efficiency of the interaction between microwave energy and plasma. The block diagram of the new plasma detector is shown. The plasma is created by impulse discharge in a glass discharge tube. (Author)
