A STUDY OF THE INTRODUCTION OF ROLE PLAYING INTO THE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM OF A NAVAL SHORE ACTIVITY.

Abstract

Role playing is a leadership training technique which attempts to simulate experience by doing as well as saying. This type of training has been used extensively in industry with varying results. The researcher used a group of six Chief Petty Officers inexperienced in role playing to conduct a series of four role playing sessions. While the leadership program was moderately successful in itself, it was primarily valuable in pointing out the pitfalls to be avoided by the novice in the use of role playing for leadership training in a practical situation.
