SCATTERING FROM A DIPOLE ANTENNA EMBEDDED IN A DISSIPATIVE HALF-SPACE. PART 1. CURRENT DISTRIBUTION.

Abstract

The current distribution on a half-wave dipole antenna embedded in a conducting half-space is investigated in this report. The dipole antenna is parallel to the plane of the interface between the two media. It is illuminated by a diffracted inhomogeneous plane wave with perpendicular magnetic field vector. The current distribution is found mainly consinusoidal with a shifted cosine correction term. A numerical analysis is given for the case where the dissipative medium has average earth constants. Variations of the current due to different angles of incidence are also investigated. (Author)
