EXPERIMENTAL PROPERTIES OF THE PI(+) PI(-) CP-VIOLATING DECAY OF THE LONG-LIVED NEUTRAL K-MESON.

Abstract

An experiment which confirms the existence of the decay of the long lived neutral K-meson producing one positive and one negative pion as decay products has been completed. That part of the data relating to the branching ratio of this CP-violating decay mode to all charged modes is presented. This interpretation of the data means that the product of charge conjugation and parity operators, CP, is no longer an invariant quantity in the decay. (Author)
