THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF 4,4'-BIS(PENTAFLUOROPHENYLTHIO) OCTAFLUOROBIPHENYL.
Abstract
The thermal decomposition of 4,4'-bis(pentafluorophenylthio)octafluorobiphenyl was studied in vacuum at 450 and 500 degrees. After one hour, at the lower temperature about 85% decomposition had occurred, and at 500 degrees the compound was almost completely decomposed. The principal pyrolysis products at both temperatures were bis(pentafluorophenyl)sulphide, and involatile residues which comprised about 50% of the total weight of the pyrolysis mixtures. (Author)
