HANDBOOK ON THE PROPERTIES OF NIOBIUM, MOLYBDENUM, TANTALUM, TUNGSTEN AND SOME OF THEIR ALLOYS (MANUEL SUR LES PROPRIETES DU NIOBIUM, MOLYBDENE, TANTALE, TUNGSTENE ET LEURS ALLIAGES)

Abstract

In the pursuit of materials inherently capable of operating at temperatures above approximately 1000 C (or approximately 2000 F), for the numerous and critical applications which are found in aerospace equipment and vehicles to an ever increasing degree, the materials community in NATO has quite generally turned to the four refractory metals: niobium, molybdenum, tantalum and tungsten, and their alloys. This volume was prepared containing physical, mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, fabrication and miscellaneous data for the above-mentioned refractory metals and their alloys.
