SOLID STATE ANALOG COMPUTER.

Abstract

This document describes a development program on the use of electroluminescent (EL) and photoconductive (PC) devices for analog computation. AC servo operation has been achieved, based in part on thin film deposited photoconductors. A module had been designed and several samples made using the 3x3 PC array coupled with three strip EL lamps obtained commercially. These units, along with the necessary electronic circuit elements (amplifier, phase sensitive demodulator, modulator, buffer amplifier, etc.) are the main elements in a solid state analog computing servo. The servo, in turn, is the central building block around which the various computing operations are performed. The development of a solid state non-linear function generator was also extended during the program. An air data computer was designed and developed using EL-PC techniques; also a complete input-output unit was designed, constructed, and delivered. (Author)
