SELF-LUBRICATING BEARING MATERIALS.

Abstract

A survey is given of progress in the development of self-lubricating materials for load-carrying components (bearings and gears) or for transfer lubrication (rolling element bearing retainers). Various methods for producing composites of inorganic solid lubricants, metals, polymers, carbons and ceramics are briefly described, and some suggestions for further work are included. (Author)
