STUDY - FAR INFRARED GENERATOR.

Abstract

An investigation is reported of a far infrared generator based on mixing two near infrared laser frequencies. Theoretical calculations are included which showed that the process was feasible. Specific data are presented on crystal quartz for use in this experiment. Neodymium doped glass laser is utilized as the source for both near infrared frequencies. Measurements were made on such a laser showing it to be suitable for the experiment. The results of these measurements are presented with a description of a successful experiment. (Author)
