SOME SOLID STATE RESEARCH AT THE ROYAL RADAR ESTABLISHMENT, GREAT MALVERN.

Abstract

Previous reports on the Physics and Electronics Department of the Royal Radar Establishment are brought up-to-date in a few selected topics in solid-state physics. The research efforts of the new materials division are described. Gunn-effect oscillators and their theoretical analysis, the determination of the phonon spectrum of solids from optical measurements and investigations of the phonon-statistics of laser radiation are the subjects of other chapters of this report.
