SECONDARY INJECTION, 'ON-OFF' VALVE VIBRATION, HYDRAULIC TEST AND RESPONSE INVESTIGATION FOR LANCE PULSE INTEGRAL MODULATION, THRUST VECTOR CONTROL SYSTEM,

Abstract

To determine the feasibility of using pulse width modulation, secondary injection, thrust vector control (TVC) for LANCE missile attitude control, a candidate solenoid injector valve was hydraulically tested during various vibration and source pressure test modes. The valve on-off flow response was determined by plotting the reduced data values in the form of off-on and on-off switching curves. The valve response curves indicate the extent of valve response degradation due to random vibration and valve inlet hydraulic pressure variation. The test conclusions point out that valve inlet pressure variation has a greater effect on the solenoid injector valve response than the random test vibration. A valve, similar in response to the test valve but with greater flow rate capacity, is recommended for use in the proposed LANCE pulse integral modulation (PIM) TVC system. (Author)
