DIRECTORY OF SOLID STATE SCIENTISTS IN WESTERN EUROPE. PART I: UNITED KINGDOM,
Abstract
This report presents the first part of a new edition of R. T. Webber's ''Directory of Solid State Scientists in Western Europe,'' published as ONRL-71-59 in 1959. Since there is still no European counterpart to the American Men of Science, this Directory attempts to fill this gap in a provisional manner. Each entry is followed by a code which refers to the present affiliation, given with mailing address and phone number in Section 3. The code in the second column attempts to describe with one or several numbers the specialty of the scientist. In the absence of an official system of classification, the 37 sub-divisions of the solid state section of ''Physics Abstracts'' has been adopted. (Author)
