Abstract

Epidemiologic research on Group A hemolytic streptococci at Loring Air Force Base, Maine, has directed attention to the role of intrafamilialtransmission of the organism in the persistence and spread of streptococcal disease in the community. Contents: Streptococcal Epidemiology; Streptococcal group-specific antibodies in man; Streptococcal group-specific antibodies in rabbits with regard to the development of the immune response to group carbohydrate and to characteristics of purified group-specific antibody; Immunochemistry of streptococcal antigens regarding Group D Type 1 antigen and mucopeptide antigen.
