SINGLE CRYSTALS OF FERRITE AND FERROELECTRIC MATERIALS.

Abstract

The details of experiments in growing Pb(TixZrl-x)O3 crystals from lead borate solvents by THM are presented. Variations in the growth process involving seeding, solvents, composition, feed materials, growth temperature and growth rate were tried. Several good crystals of PbTiO3 and solid solution composition were grown. These crystals were examined microscopically and by X-ray to determine singularity, composition, and crystal perfection. An analysis of what happens during the growth process is presented, pointing out the apparent causes of the growth difficulties that have been observed. (Author)
