HIGH PRESSURE CHEMISTRY AND STRUCTURE.

Abstract

This report involves an extensive study of the feasibility of installing commercial resistors in a piston-cylinder apparatus. Results are reported. A number of additional successful molten salt electrolyses at high pressure were carried out, although no new materials resulted. A number of attempts to quench in high temperature equilibria in rare earth compounds were made without success. Some magnetic data on the low pressure rare earth intermetallic phases were obtained and are reported. Some preliminary attempts to establish DTA measurements at high pressure were initiated.
