INVESTIGATION OF LARGE SIGNAL MICROWAVE EFFECTS IN FERROELECTRIC MATERIALS.

Abstract

A brief review of theory and derived expressions for dielectric constant, loss tangent and related parameters is presented. Information concerning the principal material studied, polycrystalline (Ba(0.8)-Sr(0.2)TiO3 is included. Results of measurements taken at 35 Gc and 10 Gc are presented in the following curves and table: (1) 35 Gc: plot of insertion loss and phase shift as a function of sample thickness; (2) 35 Gc: plot of dielectric constant and loss tangent as a function of sample temperatures; (3) 10 Gc: plot of insertion loss and phase shift as a function of sample thickness; (4) 10 Gc: three plots of dielectric constant and loss tangent as a function of sample temperature; (5) summary of dielectric constant and loss tangent measurements made at 35 Gc and 10 Gc. Progress made in large signal testing at 35 Gc is reviewed and preliminary observations and conclusions are reported. (Author)
