FIBER REINFORCED RUBBER VULCANIZATES.

Abstract

Attempts were made to improve the tear strength of butadiene/styrene and polychloroprene rubbers by the use of fibrous fillers. Wire as reinforcement produced a vulcanizate with a tear strength of 540 lbs/in of thickness. The effects of fibrous fillers on such properties as tensile, modulus, elongation, hardness and compression set are generalized. (Author, modified-PL).
