HIGH FREQUENCY COMBUSTION PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS IN MOTORS BURNING GASEOUS PROPELLANTS.

Abstract

A series of experiments was conducted for determining the factors that promote combustion pressure oscillations in rocket motors burning either premixed or unmixed gaseous propellants. The influences of the following parameters were investigated: combustion chamber geometry, the chemical differences in the propellants, and several injection variables. Auxiliary investigations were conducted for determining the effects of baffles located in the combustion chambers, and the applicability of linear theories for predicting the occurrence of combustion pressure oscillations in gaseous propellant motors.
