VERY HIGH RESOLUTION TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

A study was made of the radiation characteristics of an array consisting of fifteen individually fed open ended waveguides. The development of a very accurate sensitive detector was undertaken to provide sine and cosine matched filter outputs. Two IF detectors which were analyzed were the tuned-line detector and a transformer coupled detector. A computer simulation study of the performance of the decision theoretic array in the presence of extraneous targets or clutter was carried out. It was found from the simulation studies that the decision theoretic array processor identifies the correct number of targets with a high probability providing the computer search pattern is at least as wide as the angular width of the area illuminated by the transmitting antenna.
