THERMODYNAMIC INVESTIGATION OF CHARGE TRANSFER COMPOUNDS.

Abstract

Solid-liquid phase equilibria techniques were used to find solid charge-transfer compounds. Time-temperature cooling curves were obtained for various mixtures of the acceptor and donor from which solid-liquid phase diagrams were constructed and the melting points and stoichiometry of the compounds could be obtained. Interactions in the TiCl4 systems seem to be somewhat different. Infrared, ultraviolet, and x-ray diffraction techniques were used to determine the nature of these interactions. (Author)
