EVALUATION - LOAD CARRYING DEVICE, MAN-POWERED.

Abstract

An evaluation was made to determine the feasibility of employing the Limited War Laboratory (LWL) man-powered load carrying device in the counterinsurgency environment of the Republic of Vietnam (RVN). The tests show that the man powered load carrying device has limited application in its present form in swamps and jungles and on slopes of over 30%. The device does not provide sufficient capability to transport bulky items to justify its use by Vietnamese or US units in Vietnam. (Author)
